Agartala, Nov 24: Adivasi Lives Matter (ALM) successfully concluded its three-day digital storytelling training program, “Adivasi Awaaz,” held from November 21 to 23 at the Press Club in Agartala. This unique initiative aimed to empower Adivasi youth by equipping them with essential skills in digital content creation while fostering a deeper connection to their cultural roots.
Led by experienced facilitators Ashish Birulee and Nitesh Mahto from Jharkhand, the sessions covered diverse areas such as photography, videography, article writing, social media management, and content design. The training also emphasized preserving and promoting Adivasi identity, language, and culture in the digital space.
A significant aspect of this program was the involvement of ALM alumni Kamal Jamatia, Prakash Debbarma, Uday Debbarma, and Eliza Jamatia, who played a vital role in mentoring and assisting the participants.
Approximately 20 tribal youth from Tripura actively participated in the training, gaining practical insights and hands-on experience in storytelling through digital platforms. The program also created a vibrant space for cultural exchange and discussion about the power of media in advocating for Adivasi issues.
Founded in 2016 by Ashish Birulee, Ankush Vengurlekar, and Isha Chitnis, Adivasi Lives Matter is a platform dedicated to celebrating and preserving Adivasi identity and culture. Over the years, ALM has trained more than 400 creators across India, generating over 1,200 articles and 3,000 videos showcasing the stories and struggles of Adivasi communities.
Notably, Tripura has hosted the “Adivasi Awaaz” training six times, reflecting the state’s growing engagement with digital advocacy for tribal empowerment.
