Udaipur, Tripura 2 Oct: The historic Tripura sundari Temple in Udaipur, renowned as a sacred destination for devotees of the Sanatan Dharma, witnessed the grand inauguration of the Tripurasundari Festival today by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister highlighted the temple’s significance as one of the key religious tourism centers in India, attracting thousands of pilgrims from across the globe throughout the year.
During his address, Chief Minister Saha acknowledged the central government’s substantial financial support of over Rs 37 crore under the PRASAD Scheme to revamp the temple infrastructure. The Tripura government has also extended its financial assistance to expedite the completion of the renovation project, which began with the laying of the foundation stone by former President Ramnath Kovind on June 7, 2018. The project is now nearing completion.
Once the renovation is complete, the temple is expected to emerge as a premier religious tourism hub in India, drawing even more domestic and international visitors. This growth in tourism will likely boost local businesses in Matabari and surrounding areas, creating new income opportunities.
The inaugural event was graced by several dignitaries, including Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Gomati Zilla Parishad Chairman Debal Debroy, MLAs Rampada Jamatia and Jitendra Majumder, and other local leaders. The ceremony was presided over by MLA Abhishek Debroy, with the District Magistrate of Gomati, Tarit Kanti Chakma, delivering the welcome address.
