Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, February 25, said that the youth and their future have been given the most importance in the Union Budget 2023-24.
Addressing the post-budget webinar on Harnessing Youth power – Skilling and Education this morning, Mr Modi said this Budget focuses on and builds the foundation for a practical and industry-oriented education system. He pointed out that the Education sector has been a victim of rigidity, and his government has tried to change it. He added that his government reoriented education and scaling according to the aptitude of the youth and the demands of the coming times.
The Prime Minister said new technology is helping to build new-age classrooms. He stressed that the role of teachers is not limited to the classroom and the world is at their disposal due to technology. He highlighted that there are many digital and technological initiatives in India today to strengthen universities. He added that such futuristic steps will transform knowledge, skills, and research and development.
Prime Minister emphasised that the central government has focused on internships and apprenticeships to give youth exposure outside the classroom. He said internship culture should be expanded as apprenticeships will help students to become future-ready.
He further stated that his government is encouraging apprenticeships through stipends and by building a conducive environment that will help industries to recognize the best-skilled workforce. He said in this Budget, the government has taken forward the previous years’ focus on skilling. He said Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 will Skill, Re-skill and Up-skill lakhs of youth in the coming years. He said in this budget, provisions have been made for stipend for 50 lakh youth from the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 will skill, reskill and upskill youth including Divyangjan, tribals and women for whom tailor-made programmes will be designed. PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana will empower traditional industries like handicrafts to not only manufacture but also have access to new markets.
Mr Modi said today, the world is looking at India as a manufacturing hub and there is enthusiasm in the world regarding investment in India. He said in such a situation, a skilled workforce is very useful.
