Agartala: May 18. South Tripura Police swiftly recovered a stolen ICAR-KVK South Tripura vehicle and arrested one accused within six hours of the theft through coordinated inter-district operations.
A case (STB PS Case No. 2026 STB 014 dated 17/05/2026) was registered under Sections 305(e)/331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, based on a complaint filed by Dr. Ingita Gohaim, Senior Scientist-cum-Head (I/C), ICAR-KVK South Tripura.
According to the complaint, during the intervening night of 16–17 May 2026, unknown miscreants broke into an office room at the ICAR-KVK campus in Birchandra Manu under STB Police Station and stole a Mahindra Bolero bearing (Reg. No. TR-08-0921).
Following the registration of the case, police launched a multi-location search operation under the supervision of senior officers. The recovery operation was coordinated by SDPO Santirbazar Bapi Debbarma and OC Manpathar Outpost Inspector Jayanta Das. With support from Khowai and Dhalai District Police, the vehicle was traced and recovered within hours.
The accused involved in the theft was also apprehended during the operation. Further investigation is underway to ascertain additional links and circumstances related to the case.
Police said the swift action reflects strong inter-district coordination and operational efficiency in handling crimes against public institutions and government property.
