New Delhi, May 9: Sashastra Seema Bal has launched a major recruitment drive for 404 Constable (General Duty) posts under the Sports Quota 2026, inviting applications from eligible male and female athletes across the country.
The recruitment is being conducted for Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) posts under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Interested candidates can apply online through the official recruitment portal of SSB Recruitment.
According to the official notification, vacancies are available across 28 sports disciplines, including Archery, Athletics, Football, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Wrestling, Kayaking, Pencak Silat, and Yogasana.
Candidates applying for the posts must be between 18 and 23 years of age and should have passed Matriculation or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. Age relaxation of five years for SC/ST candidates and three years for OBC candidates will be applicable as per government norms.
The selected candidates will receive pay under Level-3 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a salary ranging from Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100.
SSB stated that preference will be given to athletes who have represented India in international competitions, followed by medal winners in National Championships, National Games, and Khelo India Games. Players representing universities and state school teams at national-level tournaments will also be considered.
The recruitment process will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will include documentation, verification of sports achievements, and Physical Standard Test (PST) for international participants and national medal winners. If vacancies remain unfilled, a second phase involving field trials and skill tests will be conducted for other eligible candidates.
Candidates qualifying in the field trial must secure at least 60 percent marks. All shortlisted candidates will also undergo a Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
The application fee has been fixed at Rs. 100 for General, EWS, and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, and female applicants have been exempted from payment of fees.
The last date for submission of online applications is 30 days from the date of publication of the advertisement in Employment News.
