Tripura, 31 Jan 2026: Based on secret intelligence inputs, Kalyanpur Police carried out a special operation late on Friday night and destroyed around 3,000 mature cannabis plants. The operation took place in the Tingaribari and Tuihachingbari areas.
The raid was conducted between 1:00 am and 2:00 am. The operation was led by Teliamura Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rohan Krishan and included Kalyanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ashish Sarkar, Baijalbari Police Station OC Jugal Tripura, SI Anjan Debbarma, along with personnel from the CRPF and TSR. The entire operation was carried out smoothly and successfully.
According to police sources, despite conducting the raid under the cover of darkness, the police were fully prepared, and no untoward incident occurred. The area is frequently reported to be involved in illegal cannabis cultivation, and police officials stated that daytime operations carry higher risks. Therefore, the decision was taken to conduct the raid late at night.
As a result of the successful operation, the illegal cannabis plantations were completely destroyed. The administration has stated that strict action against such illegal activities will continue in the future.
