Ahmedabad/Tripura, 30 Jan 2026: The Minister of Higher Education, Panchayat, and General Administration, Government of Tripura, Shri Kishore Barman, paid a visit to the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad on 29th January 2026.
In his opening remarks, the Minister extended his greetings and appreciation for the ‘At Home’ President’s Bamboo Invitation Box, a project supervised by NID. He highlighted its significance, noting, “The material for this prestigious box was sourced from Tripura state, crafted by the skilled bamboo artisans from my own home region. This project stands as a testament to the potential and artistry of our local craftspeople.”

During the visit, the Minister elaborated on the broader vision of ‘At Home in Tripura,’ emphasizing the state’s commitment to creating sustainable and inclusive development opportunities for its citizens. A key focus of the discussion was on formulating a future roadmap for Tripura’s income generation through education.
The Minister highlighted the strategic plan to leverage Tripura’s rich bamboo resources by integrating Bamboo Technology and Design into the educational ecosystem. This initiative aims to develop a specialized curriculum designed to equip the youth with the skills and knowledge necessary to harness bamboo as a driver of economic growth, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The collaboration explored establishing a dedicated framework for curriculum development at NID Ahmedabad, focusing on creating a sustainable design and technology ecosystem around bamboo. This partnership is poised to empower the youth of Tripura, fostering a new era of skilled professionals and entrepreneurs in this specialized sector.
