Tripura, 30 Jan 2026: A farmers’ meeting and interaction programme was organised this morning at the Atharbhola Village Committee office premises under the initiative of NABARD, involving beneficiaries of the Pigery Cluster Project and the Tribal Development Fund (TDF). The programme was inaugurated by the Governor, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, by lighting the ceremonial lamp on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that NABARD is actively working for the development of farmers in the state. He stated that he visited Atharbhola to see the project’s implementation on the ground. He encouraged beneficiaries of the pigery project, poultry farmers, and progressive farmers to further increase production and become financially self-reliant. He also motivated local villagers to take up duck farming, noting that it can open new avenues for self-employment and economic independence.
The Governor called upon the people of Atharbhola to seriously adopt occupations such as pigery, poultry, and duck farming and to work towards transforming their village into a model village for the state. He interacted with beneficiaries of the Pigery Cluster Project and the TDF, enquiring about their projects, planning, progress, and the benefits they are receiving from agricultural activities.
The programme was attended by MLA Rampada Jamatia, Gomati District Magistrate Rinku Lather, and other officials. Sudip Majumdar, Manager of Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited, delivered the welcome address. NABARD General Manager Anil S. Kotmari highlighted various initiatives undertaken by NABARD for the welfare of farmers in Tripura.
Later, the Governor visited pig-rearing units at Jalema ADC village and an integrated farm at Bagma ADC village, where he interacted with beneficiaries and local residents.
