Hyderabad, Jan 26: Tripura’s Muaythai athletes put up a commendable show at the 7th UMAI Senior National Muaythai Championship, held at S.S. Convention Centre, Hyderabad, from January 22 to 25, 2026, winning one gold and two bronze medals at the national level.
A total of four athletes from Tripura participated in the championship, which witnessed participation from leading Muaythai fighters across India. Among them, Dibya Rajak clinched the gold medal in the 57 kg Elite Women category, emerging as the top performer from the state.
The bronze medals were secured by Rejna Debbarma in the 45 kg Elite Women category and Deepinkhna Sinha in the 45 kg Under-23 Women category.
According to the All Tripura Amateur Muaythai Association, the national championship also functioned as a selection trial for the upcoming Indoor Asian and Martial Arts Games, scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 28 to December 7, 2026, under the aegis of the Olympic Council of Asia.
Congratulating the medal winners, Prasenjit Singha, President of the All Tripura Amateur Muaythai Association, lauded the athletes for their dedication and performance, stating that their achievements have brought recognition to Tripura at the national stage.
The results highlight the steady growth of Muaythai in Tripura and underline the increasing presence of the state’s athletes in national-level combat sports competitions.
