Tripura, 24 Jan 2026: Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha on Saturday said that engineers are one of the key driving forces behind the progress and development of the state, as they are the principal architects of infrastructure. He stated that the role of engineers is immense in laying the foundation of development.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the 56th Annual Conference of the Tripura State Engineers’ Association at Nazrul Kalakshetra in Agartala today.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that engineers must continuously prepare themselves in tune with changing times. Skill upgradation and staying updated are essential to achieve effective results and to successfully implement projects. He laid special emphasis on innovative thinking, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently stressed the importance of innovation. Keeping this objective in mind, both the central and state governments have taken several initiatives to strengthen the engineering and technology sectors.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the significant increase in women’s participation in the engineering profession, calling it a matter of pride and appreciation. He said this reflects the positive and active participation of women in the mainstream of the state’s development. He further added that the state government has allocated the highest share of the budget towards infrastructure development.
He said that Tripura’s development landscape is changing rapidly, with steady progress visible in infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare services, law and order, industry, and the economic sector. Behind this transformation lies the significant contribution of the state’s engineers, along with the development-oriented vision and sincere efforts of the state government.
Addressing the engineers present, the Chief Minister urged everyone to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, wherever they are posted. He emphasized the need for self-evaluation and said that one must earn a place in people’s hearts through the quality of one’s work. He wished the association success on the occasion of its 56th annual conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee said that the state’s development is realized through engineers and that they play a vital role in building “One Tripura, Best Tripura” and a “New Tripura.”
The welcome address was delivered by Satya Brata Das, General Secretary of the Tripura State Engineers’ Association. PWD Secretary Kiran Gitte also addressed the gathering. The event was attended by the Association’s President Surya Kumar Debbarma, among others.
A documentary highlighting the state’s development initiatives was screened during the programme. The Chief Minister and other dignitaries also unveiled the Association’s souvenir “Nirman.” On the occasion, the Association presented a cheque of ₹2 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Financial assistance of ₹20,000 each was also provided to six specially-abled persons, with the Chief Minister handing over the cheques.
