Tripura, 24 Jan 2024: A two-day district-level Flower Exhibition and Fair of Dhalai district commenced on Saturday afternoon at the Ambassa Town Hall premises. The event was formally inaugurated by Ambassa Municipal Council Chairperson Pratima Malakar by cutting the ribbon.
Among others present on the occasion were Councillor Suman Debnath, DDH Dhalai Subrata Sarkar, SA Ambassa Jayaprabha Debbarma, and other dignitaries. After the inauguration, the guests visited and inspected the flower exhibition stalls.
Speaking on the occasion, DDH Dhalai Subrata Sarkar said that flower growers from all four subdivisions of Dhalai district have participated in the exhibition, bringing more than 600 varieties of flower pots. These included ornamental flowers, orchid pots, foliage plants, cactus, and several other species.
He informed that 45 participants were selected for the first prize, 45 for the second prize, and 43 for the third prize. In addition, several flower growers were honoured with special prizes. Consolation prizes will also be awarded to all participating flower growers.
Subrata Sarkar further stated that the department has launched various schemes for the development of flower growers in the district. Through these schemes, growers are being provided benefits and support to encourage floriculture. He emphasized that flower cultivation has significant profit potential and can help unemployed youth become self-reliant. He appealed to interested individuals to approach the department for guidance and support to take up flower cultivation as a sustainable livelihood.
