The deceased has been identified as Rupesh Singh (27), son of Sikendar Singh, a resident of Bilthai village under Panisagar Police Station. The accident occurred at around 6:30 am when Rupesh’s motorcycle collided head-on with a 12-wheeler truck loaded with chips. During a search of the victim’s backpack, police recovered 15 kilograms of cannabis, which was later handed over to Kamalpur Police Station. Based on initial findings, it is suspected that the deceased had collected the contraband from Khowai’s Char Ganki area.
Speaking to the media, Rupesh Singh’s younger brother Rajib Singh said that Rupesh was married and is survived by his wife and a six-year-old daughter, who was recently admitted to school. Rajib added that the family received the news suddenly and reached the police station after being informed about the accident.
