Tripura, 22 Jan 2026: Hard work, discipline and self-confidence are the essential pillars to achieving any goal in life, said Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha. He stated that the 100th Ranji Trophy match of one of Tripura’s finest cricketers, Manishankar Murasingh, stands as a living example of this truth.
The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest at a felicitation programme organised by the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) at Hotel Polo Towers on the occasion of national-level cricketer Manishankar Murasingh’s remarkable milestone on Wednesday.
CM Manik Saha said that Manishankar Murasingh’s consistent success has opened a new horizon in Tripura’s cricketing arena and added a glorious chapter to the state’s sporting history. His achievements, he noted, are a great source of inspiration for emerging sportspersons of the state.
Highlighting the importance of sports, the Chief Minister said that cricket holds a special place in Tripura as well as across India and remains one of the most popular games among the youth. However, success in any sport requires perseverance and discipline. He stressed that along with academic pursuits, sports play a vital role in making individuals physically and mentally strong.
Addressing young athletes, CM Saha said that perseverance, a disciplined lifestyle and unwavering determination are the only keys to success. He further added that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the present state government is deeply committed to the development of sports in Tripura. Continuous efforts are being made to strengthen sports infrastructure and expand modern training facilities to provide a better sporting environment for athletes.
The Chief Minister observed that there is no shortage of talent among the youth of Tripura, which is reflected in the growing number of successful sportspersons bringing laurels to the state.
He also appreciated the Tripura Cricket Association for its dedicated efforts towards the development of cricket in the state and extended his best wishes to Manishankar Murasingh for a bright and successful future.
On the occasion, the Tripura Cricket Association felicitated Manishankar Murasingh, and Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha presented him with a silver-made bat, ball and stumps as a commemorative memento.
The programme was also addressed by TCA Secretary Subrata Dey, cricketer Manishankar Murasingh and TCA Vice-President Upananda Debbarma. Among others present were TCA Joint Secretary Jayanta Dey and Treasurer Basudev Chakraborty.
