Tripura, 14 Jan 2026: Acting on a tip-off from a confidential source, Amtali Police conducted a raid on Tuesday night at the residence of Balbir Singh alias Vicktu Singh in the Hapani and Sabuj Palli Goyalapara area under Amtali Police Station. During the operation, police recovered several empty gun cartridges, live ammunition, fresh gunpowder used for making bullets, and equipment used for manufacturing firearms. Balbir Singh alias Vicktu Singh was arrested at the spot.
The raid was carried out under the leadership of Amtali Police Station’s Second Officer Mrinal Kanti Pal, along with Woman Sub-Inspector Susmita Debnath and other police personnel.





Upon receiving information, Amtali SDPO Parmita Pandey and Additional Superintendent of Police (West District) Dhruv Nath rushed to the spot. An Executive Magistrate and a forensic team were also informed by the police and arrived at the scene to conduct a detailed examination of the seized items.
Later on Tuesday night, SDPO Parmita Pandey briefed the media and revealed that the arrested Balbir Singh is already an accused in an Arms Act case registered at Kalamchoura Police Station. In that earlier incident, he had allegedly shot and killed his own wife. She further informed that the accused is being subjected to intensive interrogation at the police station and will be produced before the court on Wednesday with a prayer for police remand.
Following the incident, a sense of panic and tension has gripped the entire locality. Local residents have strongly demanded strict punishment for the accused and have urged the police administration to take the harshest possible action.
