Tripura, 11 Jan 2026: A three-day training camp on bamboo, organized by ICFRE–Rain Forest Research Institute, Jorhat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, concluded yesterday at the Gitanjali Tourist Guest House in Agartala.
Officials from various departments of the state government, including Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Resource Development, Industries, the Tripura State Pollution Control Board, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras, participated in the programme. The training camp was inaugurated on January 7 by PCCF R. K. Shyamlal, who highlighted the importance and utility of bamboo and praised the organizers for taking such an initiative.
The Head and Course Director of the ICFRE–Livelihood Extension Centre, R. K. Kalita, explained the objectives of the training programme and emphasized its role in promoting sustainable livelihoods through bamboo-based activities.
During the technical sessions, experts delivered lectures on various aspects of bamboo cultivation in India and its diverse applications. Participants were also taken on field visits to different areas associated with bamboo cultivation to gain practical exposure and firsthand experience.
