Tripura, 05 Jan 2026: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Purna Chandra Jamatia, has formally written to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, urging immediate intervention over the alleged inclusion of TTAADC land within the newly declared Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat without mandatory consultation or consent.
In his letter, dated January 5, 2026, the CEM expressed serious administrative and constitutional concerns, stating that portions of land historically and administratively under TTAADC jurisdiction were included in the Nagar Panchayat boundaries without following due process. He pointed out that prior consent from TTAADC had earlier been obtained for setting up several key government institutions in the same area, which clearly establishes the land’s status under the Autonomous District Council.

Purna Chandra Jamatia emphasized that no joint verification, consultation, or delimitation exercise was carried out with TTAADC before declaring the area as part of Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat. He warned that such unilateral action undermines the constitutional provisions of the Sixth Schedule and erodes the autonomy and administrative authority of the TTAADC.
The CEM has urged the Chief Minister to take immediate corrective steps, including the exclusion of TTAADC land from the jurisdiction of the newly declared Nagar Panchayat. He also called for a joint verification, survey, and boundary delimitation involving the State Government, Revenue Department, and TTAADC authorities to clearly demarcate jurisdictional boundaries.
Additionally, the letter stresses the need to ensure that no future alteration of TTAADC jurisdiction is undertaken without prior consultation and consent of the District Council.
Expressing confidence in the Chief Minister’s leadership, Purna Chandra Jamatia stated that timely intervention would help uphold constitutional values, protect tribal rights, and ensure administrative fairness.
The letter was accompanied by supporting documents indicating that earlier government establishments in the area were set up after obtaining formal consent from TTAADC.
