Agartala: Jan 02. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy on Friday inaugurated the 28th five-day Aradhana Cultural Fair and Exhibition, organised jointly by the Information & Cultural Affairs Department and Aradhana Cultural Organisation. The colourful event was formally launched at 4 pm with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
The inaugural programme turned festive with dance, music and cultural performances by children, drawing enthusiastic applause from visitors. The fair aims to preserve and promote indigenous folk culture amid growing western cultural influence.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Tinku Roy said the fair would also serve as a platform to spread awareness on preventing child marriage, building a drug-free Tripura, and discouraging anti-social activities.
Among those present were Zilla Sabhadhipati Arpana Nath, Kadamtala BDO Sanjeeb Debnath, social worker Kajal Das, Aradhana Cultural Organisation President Ramakanta Nath, Secretary and Kadamtala Panchayat Samiti Chairman Mihir Ranjan Nath, Founder Secretary Niharendu Nath, along with other organisers and government officials.
The exhibition showcases folk music forms like Baul songs of Lalon Fakir, Bhatiyali, Ghazal and Dhamail, along with displays of traditional farming tools and rural household items that are gradually disappearing due to modern technology. The fair also features multiple government and private stalls, with traders participating from across the subdivision and outside the state.
