Agartala, 2 Jan 2026: Administrative-level preparations for the Tirthamukh Mela 2026 have officially begun in the traditional Karbook subdivision of Tripura. On Friday, Bikash Debbarma, Minister for Tribal Welfare, visited the Dumbur Tirthamukh mela ground along with senior district officials to review the initial arrangements.
During the inspection, the minister assessed overall infrastructure readiness, transportation facilities, security measures, and other administrative preparations at the mela site. A detailed review meeting was also held with concerned officials, focusing on maintaining peace, discipline, and communal harmony during the fair.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Bikash Debbarma stated that the Tirthamukh Mela is not merely a religious congregation but a symbol of Tripura’s cultural heritage and communal harmony. He emphasized that participation from people of all communities, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion, gives the mela its true identity.
The minister issued several directives to make the mela more organized and attractive. Special emphasis was laid on cleanliness, drinking water supply, healthcare services, electricity, traffic management, and robust security arrangements. He also instructed officials to ensure that pilgrims arriving from distant places do not face any inconvenience during the event.
As part of long-term planning, the minister reviewed possibilities for developing the Dumbur Tirthamukh area in a modern and systematic manner, while preserving its religious sanctity. Sites were also inspected for the potential upgradation of pilgrim accommodation facilities, including rest houses and cooking areas, to better serve devotees during the mela.
The district administration informed that advance planning is underway and a coordinated mechanism involving multiple departments will be put in place to ensure smooth management of the event. Officials reiterated that there would be no shortcomings in preparations, and all efforts would be made to make the Tirthamukh Mela 2026 a safe, well-organized, and memorable occasion marked by peace, harmony, and efficient administration.
