Agartala, January 2: In a major push to strengthen the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tripura, on Friday launched two landmark initiatives under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme. The schemes were formally unveiled at a programme held at Pragna Bhavan.
The newly introduced initiatives are the Transport Incentive Scheme, 2025 and the Tripura Partial Credit Guarantee Scheme, 2025. The schemes were officially inaugurated by Santana Chakma, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Government of Tripura.
The event was attended by Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Chairman Nabadal Banik as the Guest of Honour, while Kiran Gitte, Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, was present as the Special Guest.
Addressing the media, Minister Santana Chakma said the primary objective of these schemes is to reduce transportation-related costs faced by Tripura’s MSME units, especially when exporting goods outside the state. She highlighted that high logistics expenses often become a major burden for local entrepreneurs, limiting their competitiveness in external markets.

“The Transport Incentive Scheme has been introduced to ease this burden and encourage MSME entrepreneurs by providing financial support. Through these initiatives under the RAMP framework, we aim to strengthen our industrial ecosystem, motivate entrepreneurs, and help them expand their market reach beyond Tripura,” the minister said.
Speakers at the programme emphasized the critical role played by MSMEs in Tripura’s economic growth. The state’s MSME sector is actively engaged in diverse areas such as handloom, handicrafts, rubber, tea processing, agarwood, bamboo-based products, and food processing sectors that significantly contribute to both the state’s economy and its cultural identity.
The newly launched schemes are expected to provide fresh momentum to MSME development in Tripura and support the state’s vision of promoting entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
