Agartala: Oct 03: A 40-year-old motorcyclist died in a tragic road accident on Saturday afternoon following a collision with a passenger bus on the National Highway near Betaga Signboard, under the jurisdiction of the Santirbazar police station.
The deceased has been identified as Dipankar Talukdar, a resident of Muhuripur.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 1:25 PM near the local college. An Agartala-bound passenger bus collided with Talukdar’s motorcycle, throwing him onto the highway asphalt and inflicting critical bodily injuries.
Emergency response personnel from Santirbazar reached the scene shortly after receiving the alarm and evacuated the severely injured victim to the Santirbazar District Hospital. However, attending doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
Santirbazar police have registered a case, cordoned off the crash site, and launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal impact. The body has been preserved in the hospital morgue pending a post-mortem examination before being handed over to the grieving family.
