Agartala, October 2: Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister and Krishnapur MLA Bikash Debbarma on Friday reviewed preparations for a programme to distribute yarn and government certificates to beneficiaries in the constituency on October 13.
Debbarma chaired a meeting at the BJP Mandal office in Krishnapur to discuss arrangements for the programme, which will be held at the Poush Sankranti Mela grounds near Chakmaghat Barrage.
Chief Minister Manik Saha is scheduled to attend the programme and is expected to hand over certificates to beneficiaries and oversee the distribution of yarn, organisers said.
Addressing party workers and supporters, Debbarma stressed the need to ensure that eligible families, particularly those living in tribal and remote areas, are informed about the programme.
He asked workers to undertake a door-to-door outreach campaign and personally invite residents to attend the October 13 event.
Debbarma said government services and welfare benefits should reach citizens irrespective of their political affiliation. He urged workers to focus on spreading awareness about available government schemes and ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are not left out.
Members of the BJP’s Tribal Morcha were also asked to participate actively in the outreach exercise, especially in remote villages where communication gaps could limit awareness of welfare programmes.
The meeting was attended by BJP Mandal general secretary Wathrai Molsum and other local leaders, workers and supporters. Discussions focused on beneficiary outreach, mobilisation and arrangements for the proposed ceremony.
The October 13 programme will include distribution of yarn to beneficiaries, supporting traditional livelihood activities, besides presentation of government certificates to eligible residents. Organisers said residents of Ratia, Durgapur, South Durgapur and adjoining areas are expected to benefit from the initiative.
The programme is intended to facilitate access to government services and welfare benefits among residents of the constituency, particularly those living in rural and tribal areas.
Preparations at the Poush Sankranti Mela grounds have already begun ahead of the event, with local organisers working on arrangements for the expected gathering.
Debbarma directed workers to maintain regular contact with residents in the run-up to the programme and ensure that information about the event reaches eligible beneficiaries.
He said coordinated efforts by local workers and organisers would be necessary for the smooth conduct of the programme and wider outreach across Krishnapur.
The minister also emphasised the importance of reaching residents in remote areas who may face difficulties in accessing information about government schemes and services.
