Ambassa: Sept 25: Dhalai District Magistrate Vivek H.B., IAS, today appealed to all political parties, candidates and voters to maintain peace and participate in the upcoming Village Council elections without creating tension or any untoward situation.
Speaking at a press conference, the DM said all necessary arrangements had been completed across the district’s eight blocks to ensure free and smooth polling. Security arrangements at polling stations have also been strengthened.
Dhalai district has 110 Village Committees with 902 seats across 506 constituencies. Candidates have been elected uncontested in 52 seats, while polling will be held for the remaining seats.
According to the district administration, 1,04,459 voters are eligible to cast their votes in the district. A total of 2,538 candidates are contesting the elections, including 515 from the BJP, 680 from the CPI(M), 148 from the Congress, 871 from Tipra Motha, 126 from the IPFT and 198 independents.
The DM urged voters and candidates to exercise their democratic rights peacefully and cooperate with the administration to ensure a smooth polling process.
