Tripura, Sept 21, 2026: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the Krishnapur Assembly constituency under Teliamura police station in Tripura, triggering widespread anger and tension in the area. Teliamura police have arrested the accused, Satyam Shil, from his residence in connection with the case.
According to police sources, an FIR was registered at Teliamura Police Station as Case No. 54/2026 under BNS Section 65(1) and Section 4(2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Acting on the complaint, police arrested Shil from his own home.
The alleged incident took place on Saturday, September 19, when the minor’s parents were reportedly not at home. The girl went outside, and the accused allegedly dragged her to a hillock near the house and raped her, according to the complaint.
The girl did not initially disclose the incident to her family on Saturday. On Sunday, however, she complained of physical discomfort and told her mother, following which the family rushed to the police station on September 20. The FIR was then registered.
Police have begun interrogating the accused. Investigators say the case will depend on documentary proof of the minor’s age, the medical examination report, the victim’s confidential statement before a magistrate, and scientific evidence.
