Agartala, September 15: Punjab National Bank (PNB) has joined hands with the Tripura government to provide permanent state government employees with a customised salary account package offering insurance protection, healthcare services, banking facilities and preferential loan benefits.
The initiative was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tripura Finance Department Secretary Dr Parshant Kumar Goyal and PNB General Manager and Guwahati Zone Zonal Head Bijender Singh.
PNB Agartala DGM and Circle Head Rituraj Krishna and CAC Head Alok Priydarshi were present at the signing ceremony.
According to the bank, the package has been structured based on employees’ salary categories, with a range of benefits aimed at providing financial security and convenient access to banking services.
The insurance component includes Personal Accidental Death cover of up to Rs 1.50 crore and Air Accidental Insurance of up to Rs 3 crore. Employees will also be eligible for Permanent Total Disability insurance cover of up to Rs 1.50 crore.
Apart from insurance protection, the package provides provisions for higher education, girl-child marriage and other emergency financial requirements, PNB said.
One of the key banking features is the zero-minimum-balance salary account. Employees will also be entitled to health-related facilities such as cashless annual health check-ups, tele-consultation and hospicash benefits.
The scheme also provides an instant overdraft facility of up to twice an employee’s average net salary, with the maximum amount capped at Rs 2 lakh.
Employees will further receive free and unlimited Demand Drafts and cheque books, along with locker concessions and waiver of annual maintenance charges on Demat accounts, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
The benefits will also extend to the families of eligible employees. Family members can open zero-balance accounts and avail themselves of specified insurance coverage and free transaction facilities.
PNB will provide preferential benefits on housing, vehicle, education and personal loans to employees covered under the scheme. RuPay debit and credit card facilities will also be offered.
The bank said the agreement is intended to bring multiple financial services under one customised salary account arrangement, enabling Tripura government employees and their families to access banking, insurance, healthcare and credit-related benefits through an integrated package.
