Tripura, 13 Sep 2026: Two people were injured after a speeding motorcycle allegedly hit them on the road near Madhya Ganaki, close to Mahadev Tila in Khowai, at around 10 pm on Saturday night.
According to preliminary information, the motorcycle allegedly struck a person near the roadside and another vehicle before fleeing the spot. The injured were identified as Shashi Debnath, a tom-tom driver, and Dilip Das, a motorcycle rider.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Khowai reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. The injured were rescued and taken to Khowai District Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
A local resident, Subrata Debbarma of Natun Bazar, who witnessed the incident, said the motorcycle appeared to be travelling at high speed and hit the victims before fleeing the area.
Fire Service personnel said a cyclist was also involved in the incident and sustained minor injuries, including a cut on his chin and abrasions on his leg. The accident reportedly occurred before the entrance to the Maharani Ashram Road.
Local residents have urged the Khowai police administration to identify the motorcycle and its rider and take necessary action.
