Agartala, Sep 5: Amtali Police have arrested a suspected hardcore property offender allegedly involved in several theft cases in and around the Amtali police station area.
According to Tripura Police officer Rana Chatterjee, a theft case was registered following a complaint from a local resident. During the investigation, police arrested some hardcore property offenders and questioned them in police remand. Their interrogation reportedly revealed the names of several associates.
Acting on intelligence inputs, police conducted raids and arrested another alleged offender on Friday. The accused was produced before the court on Saturday, with police seeking further remand for continued interrogation.
Police said the arrested youth is allegedly linked to multiple theft incidents within the Amtali police station jurisdiction as well as neighbouring areas. Investigators also alleged his involvement in a recent theft at a Kali Mandir in the Amtali area. According to the police, the accused has confessed to the temple theft.
Officer Chatterjee said several items suspected to be stolen have also surfaced during the investigation and will be placed before the court as part of the case records.
Police further stated that based on information obtained during interrogation, efforts are underway to arrest the other alleged accomplices.
