Tripura, 03 September 2026: A special vehicle-checking drive was conducted yesterday under the West Police Station jurisdiction, targeting vehicles fitted with black or heavily tinted glass.
The drive was carried out in the Battala area by personnel of the West Police Station and Battala Outpost, in the presence of the Sadar SDPO. Police officials were seen removing illegal black film from vehicle windows and taking cases against violators.
Speaking during the drive, West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sanjit Sen said the initiative was aimed at preventing criminal activities that could take place inside vehicles where visibility is blocked by black-tinted glass.
According to the OC, several vehicles were checked and black films were removed. Cases were also registered against the concerned vehicle owners.
He clarified that there is no government permission for using black film on vehicle windows, and warned that strict action would be taken against those continuing to violate the rules.
The OC also said that vehicle-checking drives are being conducted regularly by the police station. Action is also being taken against vehicles with tampered number plates, particularly during night-time checks. Depending on the violation, offenders may be detained and cases registered, while e-challan provisions may also be applied where applicable.
Police appealed to vehicle owners to remove illegal black films from their cars and ensure compliance with traffic regulations to help prevent unwanted and criminal incidents.
The special drive against illegal tinted glass is expected to continue on a regular basis.
