Tripura, 26 August 2026: The body of a man was recovered from a pond in the Palpara area of Dhalabil on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Bimal Tanti, a resident of Champahaur.
According to local residents, children first noticed an unidentified man floating in the water at a pond belonging to Binod Bhowmik. After receiving the information, locals reached the spot and alerted the police and Fire and Emergency Services.
Residents later learned that the deceased was Bimal Tanti from Champahaur. Locals said he was reportedly of an unusual mental state and may have come to the area while wandering around. They suspect that he may have accidentally fallen into the pond and drowned.
Police reached the spot and initiated the necessary investigation. The exact cause of death will be ascertained following further investigation and other formal procedures.
