Tripura, August 5: Kadamtala Police in North Tripura have arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a Class IX student from Ranibari area under Kadamtala Police Station.
According to police, the victim’s family lodged a written complaint alleging that the minor girl was abducted from in front of her residence on July 31 and was subsequently sexually assaulted. The accused was identified as Rabindra Munda (45), son of Lalbabu Munda, a resident of Khulidar, Ward No. 4, under Sat Sangam Gram Panchayat in the Kadamtala police station area.
Based on the complaint, Kadamtala Police registered Case No. 43/2026 under Sections 137(2), 127(2), and 65(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the accused on Tuesday night. Officials said he will be produced before the Dharmanagar District Court with a prayer for police remand for further investigation.
The investigation into the case is currently underway.
