Agartala: Jun 18. The Tribal Students’ Union (TSU) Central Committee on Thursday submitted a six-point charter of demands to TTAADC Executive Member C.K. Jamatia, seeking key reforms and infrastructure development to strengthen the education sector in the ADC areas.
During a meeting held at Khumulwng, the TSU delegation urged the TTAADC administration to recruit teachers for single-teacher schools, establish D.El.Ed and B.Ed colleges under the council, and introduce postgraduate courses in Kokborok, Bengali and English at Khumulwng Degree College.
The student body also demanded the construction of a Boys’ Hostel at Khumulwng to improve educational facilities and support students from remote areas.
Executive Member C.K. Jamatia described the discussion as fruitful and assured that the demands raised by the students would be examined seriously for the betterment of education and student welfare in the TTAADC areas.
MDC James Debbarma was also present during the meeting.
The TSU delegation included Sujit Tripura, Ankit Murasing, Buwkhuri Debbarma and Bishal Debbarma, among others. They highlighted several issues affecting students and stressed the need for immediate intervention to improve educational opportunities across the ADC region.
Jamatia appreciated the delegation for its constructive suggestions and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to addressing educational challenges in the tribal areas.
