Tripura, 6 June 2026: A tragic incident occurred at the popular tourist destination, Saika Tuisui Waterfall, under Kamalpur subdivision, where a 19-year-old youth lost his life while bathing with friends on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Ananta Singh (19), a resident of the Bishramganj area near Itbhatta Bazar.
According to local sources, a group of eight friends had traveled from Bishramganj to the waterfall at around 11 a.m. for an outing. While they were bathing together in the waterfall, Ananta reportedly drifted into a deeper section of the water and suddenly disappeared beneath the surface.
His friends initially failed to realize what had happened, but panic set in when they noticed that Ananta had not resurfaced. They immediately raised an alarm, drawing the attention of local residents.
Upon receiving the information, personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. After considerable effort, Ananta was recovered from the water and taken to Kamalpur Sub-Divisional Hospital. However, doctors on duty declared him dead on arrival.
Friends of the deceased said that Ananta did not know how to swim and was swept into the deeper part of the water unexpectedly.
The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the area. News of the tragedy left Ananta’s family devastated, with relatives and neighbors mourning the untimely loss of the young man.
Following the incident, authorities have urged visitors to exercise extreme caution while visiting waterfalls and other water bodies, especially those who are not trained swimmers. Officials have advised tourists to avoid venturing into deep water and to follow safety guidelines at all tourist spots.
