Tripura, June 3: A 26-year-old youth lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident at Nayanpur area on the Teliamura-Gilatali road under Teliamura Police Station late Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sagar Sarkar (26), son of late Sushil Sarkar and a resident of Gamaibari under Teliamura subdivision.
According to reports, Sagar and a few of his friends had gone to deliver a Loknath Baba idol to a friend’s house as part of a religious celebration. While returning towards Teliamura on a motorcycle, the vehicle reportedly met with an accident near Nayanpur, resulting in fatal injuries to Sagar.
Local residents immediately informed the Fire and Emergency Services personnel, who rushed to the spot and transported the injured youth to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital around midnight. However, the attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The body was kept in the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. Following the completion of the autopsy on Wednesday afternoon, the body was handed over to the bereaved family.
The untimely death of the young man has cast a pall of gloom over the entire locality.
Police officials stated that they received information about the accident around midnight and promptly reached the scene. An investigation into the incident has been initiated, and the damaged motorcycle has been taken to Teliamura Police Station for further examination.
