Bishalgarh, March 4: Police in Bishalgarh arrested an absconding accused along with 4,000 Yaba tablets during a vehicle search on the bypass road on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Saddam Hossain, a notorious drug peddler from Bejimara in Sonamura, was apprehended after police intercepted a suspicious vehicle and conducted a search in the presence of a Deputy Collector & Magistrate (DCM).
The seized contraband is estimated to be worth several lakh rupees in the illegal market.
Officer-in-Charge Bijoy Das of Bishalgarh Police Station informed the media that the accused had been evading arrest and will be produced before the court on Wednesday.
Further investigation is underway.
