Agartala, 13 Dec 2025: Severe mismanagement at Swami Vivekananda Maidan during the Tourism Promo Fest led to chaos and clashes between police and fans who had gathered to attend the “Jubin Night” concert (Friday Night).
According to sources, the venue has a maximum capacity of around 20,000 people, but nearly 40,000 entry passes were reportedly issued by the Tourism Department. As a result, the ground became dangerously overcrowded, leaving little to no space for movement.

Tension escalated when large numbers of people attempted to enter the already packed venue, leading to scuffles between police personnel and concertgoers. To bring the situation under control, the police were compelled to carry out a lathi charge.
Several people were injured in the incident. The injured were immediately shifted to IGM Hospital for primary medical treatment.
In an effort to ensure the programme continued and to stabilize the situation, Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag personally arrived at the venue and took charge of the security arrangements.
The incident has raised serious questions over crowd management and planning by the organisers, especially in view of the mismatch between the venue’s capacity and the number of passes distributed.
