New Delhi, September 9, 2025: The Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi yesterday witnessed a memorable celebration of International Literacy Day, where Tripura’s remarkable journey to achieving full literacy took centre stage.
The national-level programme was graced by Union Minister of State for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, as the chief guest. Announcing the theme “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era through ULLAS” he emphasized the need to blend technology and education to unlock limitless opportunities for the future.
The highlight of the event was a thematic session in which Tripura’s Special Secretary of Education, Raval H. Kumar, presented the state’s inspiring literacy mission. From remote hills to urban centres, every corner of Tripura was brought under the light of literacy a journey that drew admiration and thunderous applause from the audience.
Also present on stage were Tripura’s Minister for Higher Education and Panchayati Raj, Kishore Barman, and Mizoram’s Education Minister, Vanlalthlana. Their reflections on challenges, struggles, and achievements enriched the session, with Tripura’s Education Minister’s remarks drawing particular nationwide appreciation.
Tripura was specially acknowledged for its pioneering role in implementing the National Education Policy 2020. The recognition underscored the state’s position not only as a fully literate state but also as an inspiring model for the rest of the country.
