Tripura, 9 sep 2025: On the eve of the upcoming Durga Puja, police have intensified their anti-narcotics operations. Acting on secret information, Khowai Women Police seized a large quantity of foreign liquor along with drugs in two separate raids on Tuesday, with assistance from plainclothes officers.
In the first operation, police raided a restaurant on Office Tilla Road in Khowai and caught two drug peddlers red-handed while selling narcotics in public. The arrested individuals have been identified as Kajal Barman and Sunny Debbarma. According to police sources, the restaurant had long been a front for an active drug racket.
Later in the afternoon, Khowai Women Police received another tip-off about illegal liquor stockpiling at the residence of Sitendra Deb in the Paharmura area. Acting swiftly, the police conducted a raid and recovered as many as 78 bottles of foreign liquor from the premises. Sitendra Deb was also taken into custody.
Police confirmed that all three accused have been brought to the police station, and further investigation is underway.
