Tripura, 7 Sep 2025: Acting on a tip-off, Ambassa police achieved a major success this morning by seizing a huge quantity of dry cannabis. Around 9 AM, police were conducting routine vehicle checks at Bet Bagan naka point when they intercepted a Maruti Swift car. On searching the vehicle, police recovered a massive haul of cannabis.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nirupam Datta, Ambassa Police Station OC Nandan Das, other police officials, and a forensic team rushed to the spot immediately. According to SDPO Datta, the police recovered 215 kg of dry cannabis packed in 21 packets, worth over ₹20 lakh in the black market.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Ajay Das, has been detained. Police confirmed that the car (registration number TR 01 CF 0285) was heading towards Dharmanagar from Agartala.
SDPO Datta further assured that such operations against narcotics smuggling will continue in the coming days.
