Tripura 1st Sep 2025: Teliamura–Ampi road has long been in a deplorable state, causing daily hardship for commuters and local residents. With no repair work carried out for a prolonged period, public frustration had been mounting. On Monday, MLA Kalyani Saha Roy, accompanied by officials of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), conducted an on-site inspection of the road.
Present during the visit were Teliamura Municipal Council Chairman Rupak Sarkar, Acting SDM of Teliamura Abhedananda Baidya, and several others. The officials, after witnessing the poor condition of the road firsthand, assured that restoration work would begin soon.
Locals pointed out that the situation worsens during the monsoon, disrupting essential services including healthcare and daily movement. Officials from the concerned department stated that necessary steps will be initiated immediately to resolve the problem and bring relief to the public.
Expressing concern, MLA Kalyani Saha Roy said:
“You all know that from Ampi Chowmuhani, even after crossing our Teliamura Hospital, for another 1.7 kilometers, the road is in a terrible condition. We have repeatedly held meetings with NHIDCL and the building construction authorities, but no real progress has been made. They are only applying patchwork solutions. I have informed the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the matter, and also the PWD Secretary Mr. Kiran Gitte. I spoke to him again yesterday. Today, we brought along our HDM In-charge Abhedananda Baidya, newly appointed DCM Pradip Sarkar, as well as our municipal chairman, vice-chairman, councillors, and PWD SDU officials. The suffering of people has become unbearable, so we held extensive discussions and came for spot verification to make the officials realize the ground reality.”
Residents now hope that this intervention will finally pave the way for the Teliamura–Ampi road to be restored to proper condition soon.
