Tripura, 31 August 2025: A violent incident has come to light following a road accident in Khowai. Last Wednesday, while returning from Asharam Bari with a small goods vehicle, a collision occurred between the vehicle and a bike at Sombar Bazar. Immediately after the accident, local resident Sukhen Das was allegedly assaulted by a group of men.
Das, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to GBP Hospital. After treatment, he was discharged and returned home today around 12:30 p.m., where he narrated the entire incident to reporters.
According to his statement, the assault was mainly carried out by the bike’s rider, along with another person who was riding pillion. They allegedly attacked him, snatched his mobile phone, and took away around ₹15,000 in cash—₹10,000 finance money and ₹5,000 of his personal savings.
Das said he did not recognize the attackers as he lives in Asharam Bari and had no prior acquaintance with them. The incident, which happened three to four days ago, has created panic in the area.
The injured man and his family members stated that a case will be filed with the police soon. His goods vehicle, a three-wheeler, is currently under police custody.
Speaking to the press, Sukhen Das demanded strict punishment for the attackers.
