Tripura, 27 August 2025: Around 22 kilograms of ganja were seized by police from the Bagabil international border area under Baijalbari Police Station.
According to the details, on Wednesday afternoon, based on secret information, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baijalbari Police Station, Jugal Tripura, conducted patrolling in the international border region. During the operation, police noticed that smugglers were packing ganja near Bagabil. On seeing the police, the smugglers fled the spot, leaving behind the consignment.
The seized ganja was brought to Baijalbari Police Station. The OC confirmed that the narcotics have been stored at the station and a thorough investigation has already begun. Police sources suspect that the ganja was meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh. However, due to unfavorable conditions, the traffickers abandoned the consignment and escaped.
Baijalbari police have launched an investigation to identify those involved in the incident.
