Agartala, August 26: The Tripura Government is committed to improving the standards of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital to ensure better healthcare for the people of the state. Several development initiatives have already been undertaken at the state’s premier hospital with sincere efforts and dedication.
In a meeting of the Governing Body of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) held yesterday at the AGMC Council Hall, several key decisions were taken. The meeting was chaired by RKS Chairperson and MLA Meena Rani Sarkar. Among those present were RKS Vice-Chairman Dr. Ashok Sinha, RKS members and corporators Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya and Hiralal Debnath, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health Services Dr. Tapan Majumdar, Medical Superintendent of GBP Hospital Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, and Principal of AGMC Dr. Anup Kumar Saha.
The meeting approved the opening of a new counter to provide free outsourcing of diagnostic tests for in-patients covered under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana (MJAY), Priority Group, Antyodaya and BPL categories, in cases where such tests are not available within the hospital.
Decisions were also taken to upgrade the Central Laboratory of AGMC by introducing advanced testing facilities to ensure modern healthcare services. It was resolved to utilize the untied fund of the National Health Mission (NHM) for urgent procurement of medicines for the Trauma Care Unit, Emergency Medicine, and Pediatrics Department.
For the convenience of patients, RKS will install suggestion and complaint boxes at different points inside the hospital. Patients and attendants will be able to submit their feedback in writing, which will later be reviewed by the authorities for necessary action.
Additionally, ten civil service volunteers will be engaged at the “May I Help You” desk in AGMC to assist patients and attendants in availing various hospital services smoothly. The meeting also adopted several other measures aimed at strengthening patient care services.
