Agartala, August 26: To ensure better healthcare services for the people of the state, the Tripura Government has taken several initiatives. Earlier, due to a shortage of specialist doctors, every district or sub-divisional hospital could not be provided with specialists. However, with the appointment of 45 specialist doctors, this gap will now be partially addressed. The state government will also take steps to recruit more specialist doctors in the near future, said Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha while addressing the appointment letter distribution ceremony of 45 specialist doctors at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala today.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is working to advance the pace of development, including healthcare services, in line with the needs of the people. Since 2018, the number of doctors in different health centres has increased. He further added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to build a self-reliant India by enhancing the skills of educated youth, and Tripura is also gradually becoming self-reliant in various sectors. With the improvement of healthcare services in the state, the number of patients being referred outside the state has significantly reduced. The Chief Minister expressed hope that the newly appointed specialist doctors will dedicate themselves to the service of the people. He also handed over the appointment letters to the doctors.
Speaking on the occasion, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte said that to address the shortage of doctors, 215 doctors will be appointed in the state. Several district and sub-divisional hospitals have already been modernized, and infrastructure development work is ongoing across Tripura to ensure quality healthcare services for all. Delivering the welcome address, Additional Secretary of Health & Family Welfare Department, Rajib Dutta, highlighted the state’s efforts in strengthening healthcare facilities.
