Tripura, August 17: Tragedy struck on Sunday evening when a scooter and a vehicle collided near the TSR camp at Gokulnagar, leaving one woman dead and her husband injured.
According to police and eyewitness reports, Dibakar Ghosh, a manager with Tripura Gramin Bank, was returning to his rented home in Agartala from Kamalasagar on a scooter along with his wife, Priyanka Ghosh. Near the Gokulnagar TSR camp, their scooter (TR01AM-9205) collided head-on with an Eco vehicle (TR06B-0465).
Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the injured couple. Dibakar Ghosh was immediately taken to Agartala’s IGM Hospital, while his wife Priyanka was rushed to the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. Doctors, however, declared her dead after primary treatment.
The news of Priyanka’s death left the family in deep shock. Her mother-in-law, who rushed to the hospital, broke down in tears upon hearing the confirmation.
Dibakar Ghosh hails from Khowai but has been living in Agartala for work purposes. Police from Bishalgarh Police Station reached the spot soon after the accident and have initiated an investigation into the collision.
The atmosphere at Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital turned emotional, with relatives and local residents expressing grief and demanding stricter road safety measures in the area.
