Agartala, 16 August 2025: During this year’s state-level Independence Day celebrations held at the Assam Rifles Ground, several police officers and personnel were announced as recipients of the President’s Medal. They include Deputy IGP (Northern Range) Ratan Ranjan Debnath, Subedar (Jm. Debbarma) of TSR 1st Battalion, Havildar (GD) Kumar Singh of TSR 5th Battalion, Constable Dhruba Kapali of Special Branch, Constable Debnath of KTDS Police Training Academy, and Constable Haimen Chandra Nath of North District. They will receive these medals formally during the Republic Day celebrations in 2026.
At today’s function, officers and Home Guard personnel who had been conferred medals on Republic Day 2023 and Independence Day 2024 by the President and the Union Home Minister were decorated with their medals. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha presented the honors.
Those awarded the President’s Police Medal included Inspector (UB) Debabrata Pal, Deputy SP (Traffic) Deepak Kumar Sarkar, Inspector (UB) Rana Chatterjee of West District, Subedar (GD) Kaustav Bhattacharya of TSR Battalion, SI (AB) Pintu Majumdar of Police Training, Naik/Rubikar Abdul Sahid of TSR 10th Battalion, Havildar (GD) Jamatia of TSR 7th Battalion, Deputy SP (West) Kamal Krishna Kaloi, Subedar (GD) Debbarma of TSR 8th Battalion, Havildar (Zildar) Debbarma of TSR 12th Battalion, Naik Nirmal Das of TSR, Constable Kuzen Kanti Choudhury of Special Branch, and Constable Jayanti Chakraborty of Special Branch.
For distinguished service, the Home Guard Defence Medal was awarded to Home Guard Chakma, Home Guard Bikash Chandra Saha, and Navakumar Sarkar.
Meanwhile, Sepahijala District Additional SP Rajib Sutradhar, Inspector (UB) Das, and SI (UB) Nam Choy Moya Darlong were presented with the Union Home Minister’s Medal.
Additionally, Special Branch Additional SP Shyamananda Sharma was honored with the Outstanding Intelligence Medal for exceptional skills in intelligence operations.
These recognitions highlight remarkable dedication, performance, and service excellence in their respective fields.
