Tripura, 12 August 2025: A special health camp was organized on August 9 at the Manuvalley Panchayat Office ground under the Somrurpara Primary Health Centre in Unakoti district. The initiative was led by Agartala Government Medical College, with support from the All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association and the Unakoti District Chief Medical Officer’s Office.
The camp was inaugurated by Sampa Das Pal, Chairperson of the Chandipur Panchayat Samiti, in the presence of Nitesh Digar, Pradhan of Manuvalley Gram Panchayat, Dr. Sanjoy Rudra Pal (Chief Medical Officer, Unakoti district), Dr. Rohan Pal (Medical Superintendent, Unakoti District Hospital), Dr. Shankha Shubhra Debnath (Assistant Project Director, Tripura AIDS Control Society & President, ATGDA Unakoti Unit), Dr. Sandipan Bhattacharjee (District Immunization Officer, Unakoti), Dr. Arup Chakraborty (Secretary, ATGDA Unakoti Unit), and Dr. Ria Bhadra (In-Charge Medical Officer, Somrurpara PHC).
A total of 673 villagers availed free health check-ups during the camp, where various diagnostic tests were conducted. These included ECG for 15 patients, X-ray for 45 patients, and sputum collection from 5 suspected tuberculosis cases. Blood samples from 115 individuals were tested for HIV and VDRL, all of which were negative. For hepatitis detection, HBsAg and HCV tests were conducted for 124 individuals, with all results negative. Hemoglobin tests were carried out for 124 individuals, where one person was found to have a level below 7.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan, 38 pregnant women received antenatal check-ups by an obstetrics and gynecology specialist. Each was also provided with a nutritious food packet to support a balanced diet.

Nursing officers and other health workers from various health centres in Unakoti district worked tirelessly to make the camp a success.
The main objective of this health camp was to deliver advanced medical services, usually available only in major state hospitals, to rural communities through expert consultations and diagnostic facilities. The All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association stated that similar health camps are planned in other parts of the state in the future. The event greatly benefited local villagers, who received specialized care and diagnostic services free of cost.
