Agartala, August 10: Tripura University has issued a revised list of candidates for counselling-cum-provisional admission to the IMD in Mathematics for the 2025–2026 academic session, following allegations of irregularities in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) quota allotment.
The earlier list allegedly included a candidate from outside the ST community in a seat reserved for the category. The matter came to light after Tiprasa royal scion and political leader Pradyot Manikya Debbarma intervened.

In a social media post, Debbarma stated that a few days ago he was informed about the irregularity and immediately directed his team at the central university to address the issue. He also personally took up the matter with the authorities.
“This revised list has ensured that now proper rule has been followed,” Debbarma wrote, adding that while people often expect him to take up such cases, other Tiprasa leaders across parties should also be held accountable. “Is this simply only Bubagra’s fight?” he asked.
The revised list, dated August 9, now includes three Scheduled Tribe candidates — Mercy Debbarma, Apon Debbarma, and Alina Tripura — under the ST quota. Counselling is scheduled for August 13 at the university’s Academic Building No. 11, Department of IMD.
