Agartala, 10 August 2025: The West Tripura District Administration will celebrate Independence Day in Agartala through various programmes. The main function on August 15 will be held at Assam Rifles Ground. At 9:10 AM, Chief Minister (Dr.) Manik Saha will formally hoist the National Flag. After the flag hoisting, the Chief Minister will inspect the parade of the combined security forces and take the salute. Students from various schools will present attractive cultural performances during the event.
The day will begin with a Prabhat Pheri (morning procession) at dawn. At 7:00 AM, the National Flag will be hoisted at all government offices, blocks, colleges, Anganwadi centres, municipal offices, and Gram Panchayat or Village Council offices. At 7:00 AM, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath will hoist the National Flag in the Secretariat premises.
At 7:30 AM, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu will pay floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the premises adjacent to Circuit House. At 8:10 AM, the Governor will pay homage at the memorial at Gandhi Ghat. At 8:35 AM, floral tributes will be paid at the Shaheed Smriti Saudh in Lichubagan to honour the martyrs of the state.
On the evening of August 15, a cultural programme will be organised at Agartala Town Hall, followed by a “High Tea” reception at Raj Bhavan at 5:00 PM.
The Independence Day programme will begin on August 13 with the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, during which flags will be hoisted at every household after sunrise. On August 14, as part of the “City Cleanliness Drive,” cleaning activities will be carried out at Assam Rifles Ground, the statue premises adjacent to Circuit House, Gandhi Ghat, Shaheed Smriti Saudh, and other locations across Agartala city. Government offices, educational institutions, and various organisations will also participate in the drive.
On the same day, an open marathon for both men and women will be organised from Umakanta Academy in the morning.
