Tripura, August 9, 2025: A 67-year-old man, identified as Monindra Sutradhar, a resident of North Halhali and a businessman at Halhali market, died this morning following a collision between two scooters near the 40-foot bridge in North Halhali.
According to local accounts, Monindra Sutradhar was on his way to the market on his scooter when, while exiting a lane onto the main road, his vehicle collided with another scooter coming from Halhali towards Kamalpur. He fell and sustained a minor head injury. Initially, he insisted he was fine and returned home despite being advised to go to the hospital.
His son, Manik Sutradhar, said, “We’re not exactly sure how the accident happened. My younger brother said the scooters had a slight collision. After falling, my father was helped up and taken home. My brother asked him to go to the doctor, but he said he was fine. He sat for a while, but after some time he vomited and started feeling unwell. My brother then called me, and I told him to bring our father to the doctor immediately. By the time we brought him to Kamalpur hospital, it was around 10:30 a.m.”
Doctors at Kamalpur Hospital declared him dead on arrival. Kamalpur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge and the SDPO visited the hospital. The body will be handed over to the family after post-mortem examination.
