The incident occurred in Sadipur, Jamalpur area of Purba Bardhaman district, where local fishermen discovered the dolphin caught in their fishing net.
As the news quickly spread, a large number of curious and excited locals gathered along the banks of the Damodar to witness the unusual event.
Later, in a heartening gesture, the dolphin was safely released back into the middle of the river, ensuring its return to its natural habitat.
Officials and environmentalists noted that sightings like this highlight the importance of preserving river ecosystems and maintaining biodiversity, especially during the monsoon when river levels rise significantly.
