Tripura, 06 August 2025: In a major success for law enforcement, the police at the 41 Mile naka checkpoint under Mungiakami Police Station in Teliamura subdivision intercepted a vehicle carrying illegal narcotics during routine checks.
According to reports, around 3:30 PM today, the police grew suspicious of a Bolero vehicle and stopped it for inspection. Upon thorough search, they discovered 18 specially concealed boxes containing illegal heroin.


The on-duty police personnel immediately informed Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pannalal Sen, who then arrived at the scene along with Teliamura Subdivision Administrative Officer (DCM) Sandeep Debbarma and other officials. Following all legal formalities, the contraband—commonly known as brown sugar—was seized.
As per police statements, the total weight of the seized brown sugar is slightly over 212 grams, with an estimated market value of ₹20 lakh. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Abdul Kalam, has been taken into custody.
Police emphasized that strict vigilance is ongoing at all naka points and across the region. In connection with today’s incident, a case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
